  <abstract>It is 1892, and the Filipinos are beginning to rebel against Spain, forcing the colonizers to crack down viciously against dissenters. Against the backdrop of ordinary Filipinos suffering at the hands of abusive Spanish friars and officials, Andres Bonifacio and a handful of Indios founded the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or Katipunan. While girding for war, Bonifacio, a widower, falls in love with Gregoria de Jesus. She proves to be Bonifacio's match  </abstract>
